2. Alton Towers; Fastrack Packages
A fastrack ticket is a paid method to bypass the queues at Alton Towers & can be particularly beneficial on busy days at the park. There are a range of Fastrack packages available that can be purchased online in advance alongside theme park tickets for those looking to guarantee bypassing the queues. Alternatively you can pick up Fastrack tickets at the park on the day of your visit but these are subject to availability. Packages range from Fastrack Bronze, ( 1 fastrack for all of the following 4 rides; Spinball Whizzer, The Curse at Alton Manor, Runaway Mine Train and Gangsta Granny: The Ride) through to Fastrack Platinum, (unlimited fastrack on 14 of the main rides including Nemesis Reborn). More information available at a Fastrack Tickets for Alton Towers.

3. Alton Towers; Fastrack Solos
Fastrack Solos offer you 1 fastrack entry to a selected ride and are only available on the day from the park. A Fastrack Solos can give you a head start on a popular ride that allows you to concentrate on the other main thrill attractions & slot in a fastrack ride during busy times at the park. Be aware that Fastrack Solo tickets at Alton Towers sell out fast so best to make your purchase at the beginning of the day if this is for you. For a budget quick fix, why not opt for a Fastrack Solo for a couple of the more popular rides such Nemesis Reborn & Smiler.
4. Alton Towers; Single Rider
Look at for Single Ride queues for select rides at the park that offers you faster access to ride but without your friends & family. We’ve seen the Single Rider queue in operation at The Smiler at Alton Towers; simply ensure you enter the correct queue as you arrive and you’ll be ushered onto any available space within a carriage.
5. Alton Towers; The Early Bird
Not many people realise that the car park, monorail & park itself opens significantly earlier than the stipulated ride times. On our recent visit, the monorail was running an hour before the rides opened for the day which meant we were actually in the park 40 minutes before the rides opened for the day! Don’t wait for the Sky Ride to open if you’re aiming for Nemesis Reborn within Forbidden Valley. It’s around a 10 minute walk simply by taking the clearly marked path from the edge of Battle Galleons via Gloomy Wood .
6. Alton Towers; Queue Before The Ride Opens
Join the start of the queue that forms outside your selected main thrill ride. As the gates open at the stipulated ride opening time, you’ll be able to navigate the walk through to the ride to access entry. This will be undoubtably be the shortest queue time you’ll find during the theme park day as queues tend to build throughout the day. As with any theme park, the first 60/90 minutes of the day gives you the quietest time at the park.

7. Alton Towers; Non-Queue Attractions
As the park gets busy, intersperse rides with large non-queue attractions that allows children to run off steam & adults can take a well earned break. Look out for the Sharkbait Reef SEA LIFE Centre, get active at the Training Camp Adventure Playground or take in a show within CBeebies Land. Remember there are also other children’s rides away from CBeebies Land within Cloud Cuckoo Land that can be less busy too.
8. Alton Towers; Parent Q Share Pass
Take advantage of this FREE method to reduce queue times at Alton Towers with a Parent Q Share Pass. This option allow parents/carers with young children the chance to ride the thrill rides without having to queue twice by making use of priority entrance. More information is available at Alton Towers – Parent Queue Share Pass
9. Alton Towers After Dark
Look out for Alton Towers After Dark events that offers you extended hours at the park on select dates during the theme park season. With the theme park open until late, this is an opportunity to enjoy more time at the park to undertake additional rides and all for no additional charge. More information available over at Alton Towers After Dark.
10. Alton Towers; Work Anti-clockwise
Thrill seekers often enjoy rides from the front of the park, starting with Spinball Whizzer, before working clockwise around the park. Buck the trend & head straight to the Forbidden Valley/Dark Forest before moving towards the front of the park as queues for Nemesis Reborn are likely to build throughout the day.
11. Alton Towers; Queue Times
Keep an eye out for current queue times and any rides not operating that day either via the Alton Towers App or information boards displayed at the beginning of each ride. By taking account of accurate queue times for particular rides, you can circumnavigate the park avoiding the the worst of the queues.
12. It’s The Queue NOT The Ride That Shuts!
Not many people realise that it’s the queue that shuts at the advertised closing time NOT the actual ride. If you stay to the end this gives you another chance at the main rides with generally shorter queue times.
13. Alton Towers; NEW Exit Point
Look out for the new exit point to be found within Forbidden Valley that leads you directly into the standard car park. This offers for a swifter exit bypassing the need for the monorail back to the car park. This exit point tends to open up about 30 minutes after the rides close for the day as it is primarily there for Rollercoaster Restaurant guests but is available to theme park visitors too.
15. Alton Towers; Parking
Most theme park guests travelling by car now need to purchase a car parking ticket that is in addition to your theme park entry. You can either opt for Standard Parking that is more cost effective or Express Parking for a swifter entrance/exit into the park. There are still a few ways to bypass the car parking charges and you can find out more within our Guide to Alton Towers Parking.
16. Alton Towers; Drop Off/Collection
There is a FREE drop off/collection area close to the main entrance into Alton Towers if you can arrange a lift. This not only circumnavigates the parking charges but also allows you quicker access into the park too with more information available at Alton Towers; Drop Off/Collection.
17. Alton Towers; Water Refill Stations
Look out for Water Refill Stations dotted around the park that offer you a FREE option to keep hydrated around the park. Simply pack a water bottle and refill as required throughout the day an no extra charge.
18. Alton Towers; Lockers & Picnics
Alton Towers does allow you to take your own picnic into the park to make some easy savings on food & drink. You can bring your own food & drink into the theme park with plenty of storage facilities available on-site with more information available at Alton Towers; Picnics & Lockers.
19. Alton Towers Dungeon
Whilst Alton Towers Dungeon is set to close Summer 2024, you’ve still time to experience the thrills as you’re taken through gruesome tales of old. This 45 minute experience is in addition to your theme park entry charges so you may want to hedge your bets and purchasing on the day, (subject to availability). If this is a must for you, then you can add this attraction onto your theme park tickets as there are discounts available if you book in advance. Passholders can also pick up discounts off standard ticket prices.
20. Buy Now/Collect Later Service
If you are making any large purchases, look out for the buy-now-collect-later service that is available from each of the kiosks. Simply make your purchase, including a 5p carrier bag, & complete a form. You’ll then be able to pick up your merchandise from Towers Training, close to the main exit, during the last hour of the day.

Hi Eliot, an interesting point and I have to admit I’m not sure with this one. We’ve been told previously that it doesn’t matter how you gain entry to the park whether it be 2 for 1 vouchers, half price vouchers etc but I’m not sure if that includes comeback tickets as well. The stipulation is that you purchases comeback tickets from within the park and present valid tickets to the staff so worth a shot. Be great if you could feedback if this does work for you so we can pass it on to our readers. Good luck:)
