Insider’s Guide to Eureka, The National Children’s Museum
Eureka! The National Children’s Museum
Based in Yorkshire, Eureka Children’s Museum is an interactive visitor attraction that’s ideal for young children to explore & discover the world around them. Follow our guide to packed with money saving ideas to save you time & money on a visit to this popular attraction.
1. Eureka; Deals & Discounts
We’ve come across some great deals & discounts available to bring the price of entrance down. A particular favourite is the FREE annual pass upgrade option that can save you money throughout for year or look out for late entrance discounts.
More information available at Eureka; Cheap Tickets & Deals.
2. Eureka! on a Budget; Food
Food is an obvious way to reduce your outlay on a day out & great to see a range of picnic spots available both inside & outside the attraction. Look out for the picnic area set within an old train carriage, (heated in colder weather)! There is a well sized café on site should you wish to eat in with a range of healthy food options available.
3. Eureka! on a Budget; Parking
Whilst there is ample parking next to this attraction, you will incur parking charges. Opt to travel by public transport & you can avoid the parking fees, (Halifax train station is literally next door).
Previously we noted that you could avoid parking charges by visiting on a Sunday. Whilst the Eureka car park still incurs a parking charge, other car parks around that did not, (check if this is still the case on the day of your visit).
4. Eureka; FREE Outdoor Play
Did you know that the outdoor play area to the front of the attraction is FREE of charge? With giant games, a sandpit, a barefoot sensory walk & plenty of interactive toys & equipment, it’s great for an hour or two on the cheap.
5. Look Out For At Eureka!
i. Role Play Delight; my favourite area has to be the mini town complete with an M&S, Halifax Bank, Post Office, Garage & House. Draw money out of the bank, purchase food at M&S, fill up at the garage, prepare a meal in the home or send a parcel at the Post Office. Young children & adults are in role-play heaven!
ii. Me & My Body; a range of innovative ways for children to explore & understand their bodies.
iii. Pre-School Provision; under 5′s have their own specially designed areas full of sensory & imaginative activities plus a range of pre-school sessions that run on a regular basis.
Eureka; Tips & Tricks
1. Eureka! is a popular destination especially during school holidays and wet weekends. Half term holidays are seemingly very busy so buck the trend & try to visit during quieter times of the season or try a teacher training day.
2. During busy times there are two distinct queues for entry in Eureka. The first offers entry to those with annual passes or tickets purchased online & the other for those that don’t fall into these categories. It makes sense that those with processed tickets will move faster so consider booking online if you are planning to visit during busy times.
3. There is no ‘one-way-round’ at Eureka! It can be worth an initial wander around the galleries until you find an area that is less busy.
4. Eureka offers itself out as a baby naming venue if you are looking for something a little different. Works a treat if you have a number of little guests in the audience as you can take advantage of free entry into the museum too!
