Located within Media City, the Imperial War Museum North offers a powerful look at conflict in Britain from World War I & beyond. This awe-inspiring building offers a visionary symbol for the effects of war; 3 interlocking shards, representing land, water & air, based around the concept of a world shattered by conflict.

IWM North; Tips & Tricks
Free Entry; whilst there are no charges in place to enter the IWM North, you are welcome to make a donation during your visit should you wish.
Parking; is available on site although parking charges do apply.
Picnics; are welcome with a picnic room is available, (subject to availability). In warmer weather, why not enjoy your lunch down by the Manchester Ship Canal that you’ll find directly outside the museum.
Lockers; located on the ground floor and require a £1 coin to operate, (refundable).
IWM North; Viewing Platform, (check if this is open)
Access the Air Shard viewing platform to secure fantastic views over Media City, Old Trafford & the Manchester Ship Canal. Whilst the IWM North is located next to the new Coronation Street set, I suspect your view of proceedings will be restricted as filming begins on site.
Opt for the lift or climb the 180 stairs but remember warm clothes in the colder seasons as you are exposed to the elements from the top of the viewing platform. There is a small charge in place for the Viewing Platform but considering entry if free into the IWM North, this is not insurmountable.
More information available over at IWM North.
