National Trust Senior Membership, (save up to 25% off)
December 1st, 2025We’ve come across plenty of National Trust Membership Offers over the years but here’s an offer that many seniors don’t even realise that they eligible for. You can save up to 25% off standard adult prices with National Trust senior membership that is available to select members over the age of 60 years. You might be surprised to learn that this discount isn’t automatically applied and must be personally requested. Find out below how you can take advantage of this discounted senior National Trust membership offer.
National Trust Seniors, (save up to 25%)
Take advantage of this 25% concessionary rate for existing members age 60 years or over for those who’ve held individual/joint membership for at least the last 3 consecutive years.
This offer is not available online nor will it be automatically adjusted as you reach the threshold. To apply, you need to contact the National Trust directly on 0344 800 1895 and request the senior rate. For those paying by direct debit, it is important to do this in advance of your next payment date as discounts cannot be backdated.
Seemingly a roundabout way to get hold of your senior discount, the National Trust argue that some members prefer to pay to full membership rate, knowing that the extra funds will help towards the upkeep of their settings. However as this discount is primarily for those that have been regularly funding the National Trust over a period of time, members should feel comfortable taking advantage of this offer.
National Trust Reciprocal Arrangements
For those looking to make their National Trust membership go further, then worth considering the reciprocal arrangements that come as standard with membership. With over 30+ countries participating in this scheme, it’s worth packing your membership cards into your suitcase!
For more details go to Reciprocal Arrangements for National Trust Members.
National Trust Family Membership – up to 10 Grandchildren FREE of charge!
Grandparents might be interested in the National Trust Family Membership offer that allows you to take up to 10 grandchildren, (17 years and under) FREE of charge. Whilst you cannot combine the senior concessionary rate with this family membership offer, it could offer you value for money. Worth knowing that children’s names need to be listed when you make a purchase.
Questions and Comments

My husband is 61 and we would like to join do you have discount for. New members I see you offer it for existing members ? Do you offer any discounts for carers ?
Hi Emma, unfortunately the National Trust senior discount is only available for members 60 years or over who have been a member for at least the last 3 consecutive years. The National Trust do run an Essential Companion Card and you can find more information over at the National Trust Essential Companion Card Scheme, hope that helps, Liz
Can I ask if both joint members of a National Trust membership, have to both be over 60 years old? A while ago, it used to be just the main account holder and the other person could be under 60 to receive the discount. Has this changed as a friend has been refused this, until his wife is over 60. They have been members for over 35 years. Thank you
Hi Jacqueline, I have queried this with the National Trust and they have confirmed that if the primary member is over 60 years old, (and has been a member for at least 3 consecutive years), then you’re both eligible for the 25% senior discount on joint membership. Unfortunately, the National Trust cannot process senior membership discounts online or at National Trust sites so you’ll need to ring them directly on 0344 800 1895 before your membership is up for renewal, hope that helps, Liz

Were looking for a joint senior citizen membership but I’m very disappointed to see that I can only have a concession if I’ve already been a member for 3 years. This is not fair. The quote I was given is ,£150. The Scottish national trust are offering senior citizens a joint one for £99. Can you explain why the English one is so much more expensive
Thanks
Chris taylor
Hi Chris, I understand your frustration regarding the senior discount for National Trust membership and I have to agree that it is an unusual method to limit discounts for seniors to those that have been members for 3 years or more. Unfortunately we at Topdogdays are not involved in the running of National Trust membership promotions, we simply let you know where the deals and discounts can be found for days out. Liz

I am a senior member card number ********2 and have been for a number of years. I have joint membership with my daughter card number ********6, I notice that her card also has senior written next to the number. Hi. I have been a full member for quite a while now. membership no. 3*******4.
I hadn’t realised that I was eligible to have a reduced rate. Can I claim back recent subs?
Thank you.
Ps. Because the Individual rate of subscription is the opposite side of the page to the senior rate it is not obvious and should be pointed out when we apply as you have our DOB. It’s almost like some will miss it and we won’t tell them!
Hi Vivienne, thanks for getting in trust – our understanding is that the National Trust won’t backdate senior membership but state that request must be made before your renewal date. We at Topdogdays are independent of the National Trust but you can contact them directly by email over at enquiries@nationaltrust.org.uk, Liz
Hi. I have been a full member for quite a while now. membership no. 3*******4.
I hadn’t realised that I was eligible to have a reduced rate. Can I claim back recent subs?
Thank you.
Interesting article. I thought it was 5 years so it must have changed. I’ll be calling when I get home to enquire if we are eligible as my husband is 72 but I’m 59. Surprised at the amount who seem to think you are actually national trust
Thanks Debbi for your reply – it used to be that those 60 or over who had held individual/joint membership for at least five of the last ten years could request senior membership although the National Trust updated this more recently to those that held individual/joint membership for at least the last 3 consecutive years, Liz
Hi I think I have been a member for the last 3years if this is correct am I eligible for senior membership could you let me know and adjust my direct debit accordingly
Yours Pamela Palmer9
Hi Pamela, for existing members, age 60 years or over, who’ve held individual/joint membership for at least the last 3 consecutive years, you can apply for a senior discount off your National Trust Membership. To pick up this concessionary rate, you must contact the National Trust directly BEFORE your renewal date as unfortunately the NT won’t backdate discounts. You can contact them directly by emailing enquiries@nationaltrust.org.uk, Liz.
My Husband and I would love to join the senior membership.
I find it crazy that only members get a discount to continue being members. Surely you should be encouraging new members. This certainly excludes us, is this helping you?
Please explain the business acumen.
Many thanks
L Blackburn
Hi, unfortunately the National Trust stipulate that members must be 60 or over and been a member for at least the last 3 consecutive years to gain the senior rate so they are rewarding loyalty. Their rationale is that not every NT member wants the concessionary rate so they leave up to individual members. The National Trust do offer other concessions to encourage new members such as gift card to encourage new members to sign up by direct debit. We at Topdogdays are independent of the National Trust, we simply let you know where the deals can be found, Liz
I have just received my new membership card { member no. 3*******7 } thankyou. On reading the attached information, I realise that I am in fact a senior member. My d.o.b. is
May 19**, which means that on Friday I will be 89 years old.
Please alter my details and amend my direct debit payment.
Thankyou, Harry Spragg.
Hi Harry, my understanding is that the National Trust can only adjust for senior membership rates at the time of renewal. To gain a 25% discount you must be age 60 years or over and been a member for at least the last three consecutive years. We at Topdogdays are independent of the National Trust, (we simply let you know where the deals can be found) so you are best emailing the National Trust directly over at enquiries@nationaltrust.org.uk

Hi Mike, if you have held individual/joint National Trust membership for at least the last 3 consecutive years, then you are entitled to the senior rate when your membership comes up for renewal next. This discount won’t be applied automatically, you have to request it in advance of when your membership comes up for renewal. You can contact National Trust directly at enquiries@nationaltrust.org.uk to request the senior rate is applied for your next renewal date, (we at Topdogdays are independent of National Trust, we simply let you know where the deals can be found). My understanding is that unfortunately the National Trust do not offer refunds for current year membership, all the best, Liz
Early yesterday I renewed my joint seniors membership for myself and my wife Brenda. I was assured that confirmation of this renewal would be emailed to me so that I could gain entrance to a National Trust property over Easter. There was a failure to forward this confirmation so in the absence of a membership cards we will not be able to gain the free access to which we are entitled. Can I please receive this confirmation of our renewal of our membership.
Hi, sorry to hear you are having difficulties receiving confirmation of your National Trust membership renewal. Unfortunately, we at Topdogdays, are not involved in the administration of the National Trust but simply let you know where the deals can be find. You are perhaps best contacting the National Trust directly with your query over at enquiries@nationaltrust.org.uk, kind regards, Liz
I am very disappointed that the National Trust have closed the shop at Florence court. I believe it was making a profit. Visitors loved it
Hi Sarah, I wonder if you were just unlucky to find it closed on a recent visit? I’ve just had a look on the National Trust site for Florence Court, Northern Ireland and their opening times indicates that the shop is open from 7 April 2023 until 1 October 2023 and then select dates after that. Hopefully on another visit you’ll find it open, all the best, Liz
The shop is closed permanently unfortunately

Have received renewal for seniors at £ 95.40, stating that 25% reduction had been applied. This is after over 30 years continued membership !!
Why should we bother to renew when your properties are shut for 2 to 4 Month a year; when any Senior couple can join first time for the same price, £ 57.60+
£ 37.80 Which equals £95.40 ( even less if using the Promo code ) ?
Further, it is cheaper to buy individual month for 8 month individually, when properties are open for just £ 76.80 for 2 .
We have supported the NT during Covid with no proper reward.
Do you think we are just idiots that carry on to supply cash without questions when you state extra 25% off ( untrue ! ) when you charge any new members the same?
Not any more !!!
Hi Heinrich, to take advantage of discounted senior National Trust membership you must have held individual or joint NT membership for at least five of the past ten years so this is only an offer open to established members. We at Topdogdays are independent of National Trust, (we simply let you know where the NT deals can be found) so you may wish to contact National Trust directly with your concerns, Liz
Looking for senior joint discount membership
Hi Marian, you will need to contact National Trust directly to request your senior membership discount. Hi,
I see the only way to get senior discount is to have been a member for 5 years. I’m sad to say this makes it out of our price range as struggling pensioners. My husband is sight impaired and there doesn’t appear to be any memberships for disabled people.
I have also noted Scotland membership let’s you join as a senior with no previous membership.
Can you do anything, unfortunately if not we will have to join the Scottish membership as its neatly 50 cheaper which is such a lot.
Kind regards
Hi Lesley, it is worth taking a look at the Essential Companion Card and Links Pass that National Trust offer. You can find out more information over at National Trust – Access for Everyone. We at Topdogdays are independent of all visitor attractions and promotions, we simple let you know where the deals can be found, Liz
I have been an NT member for many years, but have just discovered that I am eligible for Senior membership. My birth date is xx/xx/xx. I’m not asking for a discount. Please would you just amend my membership details.
Thanks.
Hi Mary, unfortunately senior membership discounts cannot be backdated but if you have been a National Trust member for 5 or more years over the last 10 years, then you will qualify for a senior discount. You will need to contact National Trust directly to advise them that you wish to claim your National Trust senior discount going forward. You can contact the National Trust on 0344 800 1895 and request the senior rate. If you are paying by direct debit, it is important to do this in advance of your next payment date as discounts cannot be backdated. Hope that helps, Liz
How much is the cost of membership for 2 over 70.
Hi Gwyndaf, if you are both new members then joint National Trust membership is currently sitting at £127.20 for 12 months. Remember new members can pick up a £5 gift card for selected retailers if they opt to pay by direct debit. If you and your partner have been National Trust members for 5 years or more within the last 10 years, you can secure a 25% discount but you will need to request this directly with National Trust, (you will NOT automatically receive this discount and unfortunately it cannot be back dated). Hope that helps, Liz
