HMS Belfast; Tips & Tricks
1. Booking online offers timed ticketed sessions to allow for a smoother navigation through the attraction. Whilst there isn’t any financial incentive to book in advance, it will guarantee entry at popular times of the year.
2. Walk-up tickets are available on the day but are subject to availability. Promotions such as the TfL 2 for 1 or the Blue Peter free entry offer are only available on the gate whereas National Art Pass discounts & low income household tickets are available online. Worth checking the full terms & conditions of any offer you are using to ensure you understand how it can be redeemed.
3. Audio Guides are included within your admission charge & includes a range of languages. The audio guide is a useful tool to help you make sense of what you see although we found it a little tricky to navigate. Good to see a number of interactive exhibits that will go down well with younger visitors.
4. As you first come aboard, look out for information detailing free talks taking place on the day of your visit. Run by IWM volunteers, these short talks can enhance your visit but they do limit numbers during peaks times to around 40 people per talk. Reminders of up-coming talks are also provided via their tannoid system.
5. Remember that HMS Belfast is an old war ship and thought of it becoming a visitor attraction was very much a secondary consideration! Space is confined, walkways can be uneven and you access a variety of decks via narrow laddered gateways. On busy days, we imagine it would feel cramped & crowded at times so if you have any flexibility, then worth considering visiting on quieter days/times as you’ll be rewarded with a much better user experience. You can find out more information over at HMS Belfast Accessibility Guides.
HMS Belfast; Tips & Tricks
