Lift 109 gives you the chance to travel up 109 metres to the top of the north-west chimney to take in stunning views of the London skyline. This fully-covered glass elevator offers you a stunning views around London taking in sights as far away as Wimbledon’s Centre Court & Wembley’s Stadium.

You start in the Art Deco Turbine Hall that houses information & multi-media displays about the history of Battersea Power Station. After being ushered into the Infinity Room, that plays hosts to a short light & sound show, it’s time for the main event.  Ascend 109 metres, through the the north-west chimney, within a glass lift!

Worth noting that there are 39 steps to climb as you move between 2 lifts taking you up to the top.

You quite literally pop out the top of the chimney to access 360 degree views over London. Enjoy views of Alexander Palace, Houses of Parliament, London Eye, Crystal Palace & even Heathrow Airport; all from the top of Battersea Power Station. There are visual aids dotted around the glass dome, pointing out some of the main attractions, as you wander freely around the viewing deck.  You have around 8 minutes at the top to take in the views, before beginning your descent back down to earth.

Lift 109 is a ticket based experience that lasts for around 35 minutes in duration. It’s certainly a novel idea & an unique way to explore Battersea Power Station whilst taking in a bird’s eye view of London. The main attraction, (ascent, descent & views from the top), takes around 15 minutes so it’s not a cheap option, but for those that enjoy doing something different, this ticks all the right boxes.

Lift 109; Practical Information

This is a time-ticketed attraction where you are asked to arrive just 5 minutes before the selected time.

Good to know that infants can enter free of charge & children age 15 years & under must be accompanied by an adult. There are no on-site storage facilities available so you are asked to limit possessions to a handbag or small rucksack no larger than 210 & 297mm. Look out for the list of prohibited items such as food & drink, (sealed bottles of water are permitted), suitcases or high vis clothing.

Battersea Power Station & Thames Clipper

For those planning to visit Battersea Power Station, consider taking the river boat service along the River Thames. The Thames Clipper is a stop-on-stop-off service that provides great flexibility to any visit to London. By combining sight-seeing with a mode of transport, it’s a great way to enjoy the relative peace of water transport away from the crowds. Simply disembark at Battersea Power Station Pier that sits directly in front of the building. Whilst there isn’t any commentary during your trip, if you know your sights of London, then it remains a cost effective option.

There are plenty of London hotels boasting of stunning views over the city but they do come with a matching price tag.  We’ve come across an alternative that allows you to access a stunning hotel rooftop pool overlooking Battersea Power station’s iconic chimneys. Although the infinity pool is billed as exclusive space for hotel guests, there is another way to enjoy the space by signing up for an aqua class for just a few £’s.
