St Nectan’s Glen

St Nectan’s Glen

Whilst we are not usually one for paying to see natural phenomena, this breathtaking Cornwall waterfall is worth a visit.  The main feature being the waterfall that comes complete with a 60ft drop that has carved a spectacular hole through the rock below.  We are a firm believer in, for those that are can, earning your view so you’ve some work cut out to explore this waterfall.

Initially this means a 1 mile trek through ancient woodlands to locate the entrance followed by the need to paddle through the stream to find the main waterfall in all its glory. To wade through the crystal clear waters onto stepping stones, you’ll find the the view that awaits you is quite remarkable.

St Nectan’s Glen

St Nectan’s Glen; Tips & Tricks

1. Wellies Provided; to get the best view of the main waterfall you will need to enter the water so make use of the complimentary wellies provided by the ticket kiosk or simply go foot-commando.

2. Earn Your View; you will need to walk for approx 1 mile, some of it through rough woodland terrain, before you gain entrance to St Nectan’s Glen.  Simply park in the free car park, (situated just off the road in Trethevy) and follow the signs on foot.

3. Which Trail? There are 2 options available with the longer 15 minute route taking in a further 2 waterfalls along the journey at an added cost.  I have to say that whilst these secondary attractions are lovely, they do pale into insignificance after viewing the main waterfall attraction that is available on both routes.  For those on a budget trip to Cornwall, I’d save your pennies and opt for the shorter option.

4. Refreshments; there is an onsite cafe available for light refreshments plus accessible toilet facilities.

5. Ticket Prices; ticket prices vary due to the time of the year so worth double checking before you set off.  Keep an eye out for family ticket discounts.
