The Pompidou Centre

The Pompidou Centre; Tickets

Always a popular attraction, it can be worth booking tickets in advance that not only guarantees entry but offers you timed entry.  As you head to the Pompidou Centre, make your way to the ‘avec billet’ queue that can offer a swifter entry particularly at busy times of the year.  Queues tend to build around entry due to airport style security checks whichever queue you select.  For those without tickets, you can head over to the ticket kiosks located at the back of the building.

The Pompidou Centre; Tricks & Tips

1. On our recent visit, we noted significant queues for the library situated within the Pompidou Centre.  As students can access the library free of charge, it can cause a lengthy wait times for access. Be sure to head to the correct line rather than queuing unnecessarily for somewhere you’re not looking to visit!

2. Best to book tickets in advance that not only guarantees entry at popular times of the year but can offer you swifter access into the Pompidou Centre.

3. Should you simply want to explore the building and enjoy the views rather than enjoying the art, there is a free entry option available to you, (see above for further details).  It’s worth enjoying the ‘catapillar’ as you ascend from ground level up to the 5th floor through a succession of escalators.

Enjoy the changing view below as you make your way to the top where you can take in city landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower & Sacre Coeur.  Offering glass fronted views over the city &, whilst there is no signage available, for those that know their sights here’s a chance to enjoy an unique perspective over the city.

4. Go one level down to access the outdoor balcony that offers unrestricted views over the city.  Visitors tend to head straight to the top and don’t always realise there’s a great open-air view nearby.

5. Worth noting that the Pompidou Centre is closed every Sunday.

6. More details available over at the Pompidou Centre.
