One New Change; Roof Terrace
Located directly across from St Paul’s Cathedral, the roof terrace at One New Change takes in views across London and quickly became a popular destination for those on a budget. Previously the roof terrace was a FREE attraction offering the public access to the London skyline without having to fork out on costly admission charges. For those seeking out Views of London On A Budget this roof terrace sat firmly within our recommendations for those visiting London. However having recently re-opened following a period of renovation, be mindful that the roof terrace has since introduced admission charges on peak times of the year.
Over the years, there have been a number of construction projects undertaken in London that have offered public free access to the London’s skyline. Popular settings such as The Sky Garden, Horizon 22 & The Lookout sit alongside lesser known attractions including The Post Building Roof Terrace offering an array of options for those on a budget. What is noticeable is that we are starting to see a number of paid events being introduced at these settings that are seemingly eroding the free entry offer. From charges at One New Change on peak dates to summer events at Horizon 22, we hope that visitors to London don’t start to find this myriad of free access space ever-harder to achieve.
Before heading for the lift to take you up to the roof terrace, be sure to take in the breathtaking views from the ground floor of St Paul’s Cathedral. With mirrored glass on both sides of the building, the views of St Paul’s Cathedral are stunning.

One New Change; Roof Terrace
Dubbed as one of London’s newer shopping destinations back in 2010, One New Change offers a range of stores & dining experiences set over 3 floors. Situated across from St Paul’s Cathedral, the outdoor roof terrace on the 6th floor offers views over the roof tops to London’s skyline.
Following a failed mission back in June where we were invited to pay a £20 admission charge to access the roof terrace, we decided to try again during an off-peak time. Back once more during a murky January day, we were more successful and secured free access to the roof terrace. Simply head to the lifts situated on the ground floor and speak with staff placed by the lift entrance to check if the roof terrace is available on the day of your visit.
Once enclosed within the glass lift, enjoy new perspectives over St Paul’s Cathedral as you journey to the 6th floor before heading to the roof terrace. Now encased within a tall glass barrier, the recent renovation has if anything accentuated the view from the top. The heightened glassed area has been thoughtfully designed to highlight your surroundings encapsulating the splendor before you. With a 180 degree views over London, you can take in the sights over London including the London Eye, The Shard, Old Bailey, Tate Modern and well as unique perspectives St Paul’s Cathedral.
As you are standing 6 floors up from the ground, you are part of the fabric of London rather than the birds-eye view that comes from more heightened viewing platforms.
