Gulliver’s Theme Park; Tried & Tested

Gulliver’s Theme Park; Tried & Tested

We recently visited Gulliver’s Theme Park to check out this popular family visitor attraction & pick up some hints & tips along the way.  Gulliver’s Theme Park is a true theme park for children up to the age of around 12 years, (in fact adults can’t visit unless they are accompanied by a child).  With a range of family rides up to first coasters plus a range of bolt-on attractions, there truly is something for everyone.

Gulliver’s Theme Park; What Works?

1. We’ve visited all 3 Gulliver’s Theme Parks, (Milton Keynes, Matlock Bath & Warrington) & have been struck with quite how individual each setting is, both in terms of layout & the range of rides/attractions available to children.

2. A good balance between rides & non-queue attractions throughout the park.  Younger children in particular need that balance between free play attractions and queue-for rides to get the most from their day out.

3. The great advantage at Gulliver’s is that we find it’s not overly commercialised.  Yes, there are opportunities to buy ride photos & souvenirs, but it is thoughtfully placed to the side rather than directing you through gift shops & bombarding you with marketing messages.  Particularly with young children, this allows you to keep the cost of a day out to a budget.

4. Nice to see a theme park without any unpopular fastrack tickets in place.  With no paid method to bypass the queues this first-come-first-served basis leaves everyone more relaxed when standing in line.

5. Good to see that all 3 theme parks offer FREE parking.

6. A good range of attractions at all 3 sites are located undercover so plenty to do whatever the weather.

7. Gulliver’s have developed a number of separate attractions over the years, (Splash Zones, Nerf Zones, SFEAR, Dinosaur/Farm Park), that work well both as a stand alone activity or a bolt-on attraction.

Gulliver’s World On A Budget

Picnics; are welcome at all Gulliver’s Theme Parks with lockers available within the park.

Parking; great to see that parking remains FREE of charge at Gulliver’s Theme Park.

Cheap Tickets; plenty of deals & discounts running for Gulliver’s Theme Park throughout the season.

Come Back Offers; there tends to be a continual stream of come back offers available to customers running throughout the season.  These offer great savings on a second visit later in the season so worth keeping an eye out at the information booth on the day of your visit.

Beat The Queues; you are all in it together at Gulliver’s Theme Park so no fastrack tickets, single rider queues or the like. Queues tend to much shorter in general, (we queued no more than half an hour, even for the larger coaster rides, & that was during the school holidays). Always best to be ready to go as the park opens and have a plan for what you want to achieve.

i. Gulliver’s Splash Zone

Look out for Gulliver’s Splash Zones packed with interactive splash features & slides. You will need a towel & swim wear for this attraction & best to pre-book your 2 hour slot in advance as it does get busy.  More details & current offers available over at Gulliver’s Splash Zone Deals & Information.

ii. Gulliver’s Nerf Zone

Gulliver’s Nerf Zone is great for anyone with a penchant for nerf and comprises of a target practice area, and (supervised) separate battle zones.  Children will be able to hone their skills against a range of targets before moving to open warfare!  Nerf Zone is going down a treat for kids & adults alike.

iii. Gulliver’s SFEAR

Located within Gulliver’s Land, SFEAR is an indoor aerial assault course that offers an additional add-on for older children.  Follow our review of this latest attraction over at SFEAR; Tried & Tested.
