NEW CBeebies Coaster Planned For Alton Towers
In recent years, there has been a number of new attractions at Alton Towers for thrill seekers so it’s great to hear of new developments for younger guest. The NEW elevated spin ride Toxicator is now open at the park & is situated within Forbidden Valley. Billed as the ‘only topspin style ride in the world to be suspended above ground level’ spectators can also walk underneath to secure a uniquely terrifying perspective of the riders above.
Last year we also saw the return of the revamped & renamed Nemesis Reborn that proved very popular with theme park fans. During the refurbishment period, the entire 250-tonne/716 metre-long track was replaced, the track itself has changed in colour & an update to the mythical Nemesis beast was in play. As both attractions are situated within Forbidden Valley, this has seemingly boosted numbers to this area of the park.
Good to see that now plans are afoot to invest in CBeebies Land for younger guests to the park. Plans submitted to Staffordshire Moorlands District Council, currently known as ‘Project Sunshine’ suggest that this new family coaster will be in place for the 2026 theme park season. Proposals suggest that the new family ride will replace Postman Pat’s Parcel Force and will complement Octonauts, which until now was the only other family coaster within CBeebies Land. Whilst Postman Pat is well known to adults of all ages, interestingly it hasn’t been part of the line-up on CBBC for a number of years so less known to the emerging younger market. There is speculation abound that the ride might be themed around the TV show Bluey although this hasn’t been confirmed by Alton Towers at this stage.
Original plans for this proposed new coaster within CBeebies Land were initially submitted in December 2024 to Staffordshire Moorlands District Council. Revised plans were resubmitted in April 2025 where the main changes seemingly relate to the removal of maintenance structure, changes to queue lines, fewer trees being removed & some loss of theming. The ride itself appears to remain unchanged although positioning of the coaster has moved slightly. Specifications indicate that it will involve a short loop track that will no doubt offer younger children an introduction to coasters at the park.
Interestingly, Postman Pat’s Parcel Force permanently closed in June this year that may suggest that developments are underway.
