How I Lost My Bag & Found Excellent Customer Care With East Midlands Railway

For anyone with a passing glance at world news would note, there’s plenty of doom and gloom out there to bring you down. So having found myself the recipient of a random act of kindness coupled with some excellent customer service from East Midlands Railway, it can help restore your faith in humankind.

Earlier today I left my handbag in the waiting room at East Midlands Parkway train station. I made this heart-wrenching discovery shortly after  boarding my train for London. Travelling at speed away from my worldly goods, it dawned on me quite how much of my life was contained within my little green bag.

How Loosing My Bag Restored My Faith In Excellent Customer Service

Wasting precious time lambasting my foolishness, it took a few Bear Grylls-like breaths to steady my head. Considering my options, I decided my best course of action was to leave the train at Leicester and throw myself on the mercy of railway staff.

Recounting my story to the station supervisor at Leicester, he made a few choice calls and bingo my bag was located. Some wonderful individual had handed it in, thank goodness for human kindness. As I started to plot my return journey back up the track, I was blown away when the station supervisor informed me that he’d made arrangements for the bag to be brought to me.

A staff member at East Midland Parkway was going to pass my bag to the supervisor on the next train headed for Leicester.  I was to await the 11.43 on platform 3 where he would alight and hand me my belongings. I could have hugged him. In less than an hour from realising my error, here was my beautiful green bag being personally handed to me by an EMR employee. Not that’s what I call fantastic customer service.

We can all be quick to complain when things go awry so it’s good to shout out loud when you come across something above and beyond. So thank you to the lovely person who handed in my bag at East Midland Parkway, it is heartening to be the recipient of a random act of kindness. And well done to East Midland Railway, your customer service should be applauded.

Bag firmly back in my possession once more, my luck continued as I boarded that same train to continue my journey to London. Time to write a very thankful review.
