The National Theatre; Friday Rush Tickets

Pick up top theatre tickets for just £10pp with this Friday rush ticket promotion from the National Theatre in London.  Each week on a Friday at 1pm, a Friday Rush link will appear on the National Theatre’s site offering up available tickets for the following week for just £10pp.  Simply click on the link to join the queue for tickets where a random queue number will be assigned for everyone trying to book. This promotion is subject to availability, so whilst there is no guarantee of cheap tickets being available, we would suggest being ready to go at 1pm as the booking link opens.

We recently took advantage of this promotion & scooped up 2 £10 tickets to see Standing at The Sky’s Edge at the Gillian Lynne theatre.  Restricted to a particular date, we nevertheless found availability & were able to select great seats towards the rear of stalls.  Interestingly, we’d seen these exact same seats being sold for £80pp just days before so the savings you can make are quite incredible.  On the day, our seating did indeed offer us a great vantage point of the stage and we eagerly awaited this Olivier Award-winning musical.  Having received glowing reviews of the show, we certainly weren’t disappointed joining in with the standing ovation at the end of the performance.

Having picked up such a discount on the tickets, it did also mean that we could splash out on refreshments & ice-cream in the interval and still come in on budget.

The National Theatre Friday Rush Tickets; Tips & Tricks

1. This Friday Rush scheme offers great discounts for shows at the National Theatre, (& select performances for their West End transfers) for closer to the day performances.  Every Friday at 1pm, (except Good Friday), a limited number of £10 tickets are released for the following week’s performances.

2. You can purchase up to 2 Friday Rush tickets for each production.  If you’ve already purchased 2 rush tickets for a particular performance, you won’t be able to purchase further £10 tickets for the same show in future weeks.  You can though purchase further rush tickets for other participating performances.

3. Rush tickets are not transferable although you maybe able to exchange your tickets directly with the box office.

4. To make the booking process as quick as possible, it can be worth registering for an account in advance.

5. Be ready to go as the booking link goes live each Friday.  To give yourself the best possible chance of picking up cheap tickets, be as flexible as possible with both dates & performances. For £10 a ticket, it’s surely worth trying something new.

6. If you’ve managed to scoop £10 tickets, consider some additional spend at the theatre to support the venue.

7. Rush tickets are not available for talks, tours or other on-off events
