Located on the outskirts of Leicester, the centre offers a wide range of activities including abseiling, canoeing & archery but for us the boys had their heart set on the giant framed aerial assault course. The Aerial Trek & Powerfan is one of the more popular activities at the centre so we thought it was high time we put it to the test and you can see how we got on below.

Kit Check for the Aerial Trek
Aerial Trekking; Clip & Go
If you’re safety conscious like me, then you’ll be interested to learn that Aerial Trekking uses the continuous belay system that is often referred to as the ‘clip & go’. In practice this means that, once you’ve climbed the steps to the top of the structure, a member of staff will attach you to a continuous loop that remains in place whilst you clamber around the course. For those watching from the ground, this clip & go option provides that level of re-assurance parents are looking for when children are trying out new experiences.
So kitted out & checked over by their accompanying guide, the boys were ready to enjoy manoeuvring around the aerial structure some 10 metres above the ground. It was time to clamber, swing and attempt to balance at height as you made your way along a succession of obstacles, all without looking down!

Both adults & children are welcome to get involved in all of the activities including the Aerial Trekking but on this occasion I chose to watch from ground level. As the children began to navigate a path around the course, the guides remained close-by offering encouragement & assistance when required.
It is important to stress that all activities need to be booked in advance, (minimum age requirements & weight restrictions are in place for some activities), to ensure availability.

I have to say that the Aerial Trekking guides were second to none! From helping the more nervous participants get started to stretching the more accomplished climbers with grueling tasks, (my 13 year was scaling the course upside down at one point), they ensured that each individual child got the most from their time on the course.
Once the boys had navigated their way around the course a number of times, it was time to try out the Powerfan. With a safely harness firmly in place, the Powerfan provides an opportunity to step off the platform from the top of the structure and experience the thrill of falling to the ground.
Leicester Outdoor Pursuits Centre provides a great range of energetic options that includes canoeing, zipline, archery & climbing. Whilst the Aerial Trekking course is more compact that other aerial assault courses, it is also significantly cheaper. It is also a great choice when combined with other activities & interests as part of a short break in or around Leicestershire.
