Blade To Close At Alton Towers

Alton Towers have called time on Blade after 44 years of golden service at the park. Previously known as Alton Towers oldest ride at the park, this pirate ship themed attraction has entertained visitors for many years but sadly a final decision was made to close the ride at the end of the 2024. Having first opened its doors back in 1980, the pirate ship was initially located within Fantasy World, (now known at X-Sector) at the park.  A revamped Blade was subsequently moved to Forbidden Valley in 1997 and has been popular with theme park guests attracting 500,000 riders per year.

Find out more information below about other developments taking place during the 2025 season including new attractions planned.

Alton Towers 2025; New Developments

Alongside The Blade, we understand that Alton Towers Dungeon & Flavio’s Fabulous Fandango have also permanently closed their doors. Alton Towers Dungeon was an additional charge attraction that initially closed back in July 2024 before being re-imagined to create a new Scarefest attraction for 2024 – Amigos in the Afterlife. Flavio’s Fabulous Fandango was brought in during the covid years to help manage queue capacities at the park at that time.

The good news is that Alton Towers have recently announced more details regarding the NEW attraction set to open in Forbidden Valley during 2025.  Toxicator is the new elevated spin ride that is bound to be popular with theme park fans this season.  New details have recently been announced regarding this latest attraction and you can find more information over at Alton Towers Toxicator.
