For those looking for a new perspective when exploring Leeds Castle then look out for the Segway Tours that takes you off the beaten track.  Why not take an early Segway Tour before Leeds Castle opens to the public to experience this beautiful setting away from the crowds, (the first tour starts at 9.30am & then run frequently throughout the day).  Once initial training is completed – it really doesn’t take long to get your bearings- your Segway Guide takes you on a less trodden path where you will quickly be rewarded with stunning views of the castle & grounds in quite a novel fashion.

You don’t need to purchase entrance tickets to Leeds Castle to enjoy a Segway Tour, although once your tour is completed you will have to leave the site, so for those with only limited time available this can offer an unusual glimpse into Leeds Castle.  There are a range of tours of varying duration & cost available all of which give you some stunning views of Leeds Castle.

Leeds Castle; The Dog Collar Collection

For something out of the ordinary check out the dog collar museum housed in The Exhibition Centre.  This collection of dog collars first arrived at Leeds Castle in 1979 with items dating back at far at the Tudor times! For those with a penchant for the pooch you will find an unexpected range of dog collars to suit all tastes.  The good news is that the Dog Collar Collection is included within your standard admission ticket.

Leeds Castle; Go Ape Tree Top Assault Course

Enjoy a 250 metre long zip wire & a high ropes assault course 12 metres off the ground at Go Ape Tree Top Adventure at Leeds Castle. This Go Ape assault course can work well as a stand alone attraction, (no need to purchase tickets to the castle to enjoy the ropes course), or as a bolt-on for an active day out at Leeds Castle.

Go Ape have both a Tree Top Junior Adventure for children 6-12 years and your classic Tree Top Adventure for older children & adults that is housed 12m off the forest floor!  With breathtaking views of the North Downs there can surely be no better place to challenge yourself to an obstacle course in the trees.  Simply make your way to the main entrance for Leeds Castle & follow signs for Go Ape that includes free parking.

Leeds Castle; Elsie the Castle Train

Whilst there are no parking charges in place at Leeds Castle, there is a small charge in place for the miniature train that runs from the car park to Leeds Castle.  Once you’ve parked up you have the choice of taking a scenic walk through the gardens to the castle, (about a 10/15 minute walk) or opting for Elsie the Castle Train, (£1.50 per adult/£1 a child, under 4’s free).  Leeds Castle offers a complimentary transport service for the less mobile.

Leeds Castle; Black Swan Ferry

Little ones in particular will enjoy a trip on the Black Ferry Swan across the water running between the castle drive and the maze & adventure playgrounds.  Taking in views of the castle along the way this short journey will save little legs as it brings you out close to all the children’s activities.  Simply purchase a one way trip along the Great Water & arrive in style for a small additional charge & under 4’s go free, (the Black Swan Ferry is a seasonal attraction).
