Drayton Manor; Thomas Land & Tips to Beat the Queues
September 2nd, 2022Thomas Land is a magical area for little ones and has proved popular with young families. Once you’ve worked out the best Drayton Manor Cheap Ticket Offers & Deals why not follow our tips & tricks for Thomas Land to get the most from your day.
1. Drayton Manor Thomas Land; Early Bird
As with all theme parks, the quietest time at the park tends to be the first 60/90 minutes of the day. The car park & ticket booths open significantly earlier than the park so ensure you are parked up & ready to go the moment the gates are opened. Generally the park is open 30 minutes before the rides giving you ample time to find your bearings and select a first ride. For avid Thomas fans it’s best to head directly to Thomas Land as queues tend to build throughout the day.
2. The Thomas Train Ride
The hugely popular Thomas, Rosie & Percy Engine Tours & friends train ride provides you with a ONE WAY journey from Knapford Station in Thomas Land to the other side of the park. You’ll tend to find much shorter queues in place at the Tidmouth Hault station so it can be worth bucking the trend by walking over to Tidmouth Station and taking the train back to Thomas Land.
3. More Thomas Attractions
Look out for more Thomas Land attractions squirreled away at the back of the park that often attract shorter queues. Find Terences’s Driving School & a fantastic miniature Thomas railway over by Tidmouth Hault station that many guests don’t even know exist! Once completed, you’ve also the adventure playground, a dinosaur trail plus a zoo on your doorstep too.

4. Extra Attractions
The great advantage with Drayton Manor is that there are plenty of other things for young families to see & do away from Thomas Land that offer you time away from the queues.
i. Spencer’s Outdoor Adventure Play; a fantastic adventure playground for children for young children, (8 years & under).
ii. Drayton Manor Zoo; wander around the zoo & keep an eye out for the feeding times.
iii. Dino Trail; go back in time and explore a world packed with friendly dinosaurs.
iv. Emily’s Adventure Play; this indoor play area runs timed sessions throughout the day, (worth booking a session on busy days).
v. Thomas & Friends Exhibition; this miniature railway is great for little ones as they try to spot the Thomas & his friends as they speed by.
5. Choose Your Day
For those with pre-school children, it makes sense to avoid the school holidays for quieter days at the park. Look out for the great value Adult & Toddler Tickets that offers discounted entry during Staffordshire term times or plan a visit during March/April, (avoid Easter) & September/October for quieter days.

Questions and Comments
I have brought my two children to Thomasland before and will be coming again for my son’s 5th birthday. It is however a shame that we have to pay for access to the whole of Drayton Manor when we know we will only be in Thomasland. It would be very helpful if there were a reduced cost option that allowed access only to Thomasland and might mean that we could come more than once a year or bring some of his friends with us.
Hi Tracey, thanks for your feedback. Whilst we are independent of Drayton Manor, I do like your ideas for a separate entrance tickets for Thomasland only. Often theme parks say it is too difficult to police having separate entrance charges for specific areas although interestingly Blackpool Pleasure Beach did introduce a Nickelodeon Land Wristband last year, (although I note this hasn’t been offered again this year).
I would like to take my son to see thomas land on his birthday in may and would like to know how much it is going to cost for the attractions as well as getting in. There will be mum grandad and my son who will be 4 in may so I want to know how much to save up
Hi Sharon, you need to pay an entrance fee per adult/child to access Drayton Manor & then all the attractions, (bar the odd fairground stall) are included within this entrance fee. The entrance charges can vary depending upon what offers are running at the time of your visit….often the best prices available can be found online at Drayton Manor if you book in advance. Previously Drayton Manor have also run a number of 2 for 1 promotion that offer value for money too. Best to keep an eye out for Drayton Manor offers that are likely to begin once the Theme Park opens for the 2014 season from 29 March 2014 onwards.
