Derren Brown’s Ghost Train; Rise of the Demon
Illusionist Derren Brown teamed up with Thorpe Park to create the world’s first psychological theme park experience complete with Virtual Reality headsets. Previously the attraction was ‘refurbished’ to offer an added element known as the Rise of the Demon.
Set within a disused Victorian warehouse, passengers enter a train carriage suspended mid-air by metal chains some 3 metres above the ground. Riders are handed Virtual Reality headsets to experience a 13 minute journey into the dark side complete with live action performances & 4D effects where illusion juxtaposes reality. As an additional twist your journey changes each time you travel, so with 12 separate journeys & 2 possible endings, you’ll never get bored.

New Ghost Train for Thorpe Park
Derren Brown talked previously of his belief that the concept of the theme park thrill is changing. Moving away from a purely physical experience to one where attractions encompass a psychological framework to enhance their overall allure. The increasing popularity of Thorpe Park Fright Nights over recent years would suggest thrill park customers continue to demand new immersive, interactive ways to engage within a themed experience so watch this space for more details.
