Alton Towers New Developments; Toxicator
New details about this latest attraction to hit the park can be found over at Toxicator. The details below relate to the initial plans submitted to Staffordshire Moorlands District Council back in 2024.
It’s always of interest to hear about new development coming up at Alton Towers so these latest plans submitted to the council are going to be of interest to us.
Currently being referred to as Project Ocean, proposals suggest that the new ride will be located within the Forbidden Valley and will replace the current attraction Funk n Fly. Billed as a travelling flat ride, the new attraction will sit atop a 4.8m tall concrete structure giving substantial height to the new structure. The attraction itself will measure 11.5m in length, 14.4m in width and we know the full structure will stand at approximately an overall height of 18m/60ft, (suggesting the attraction itself will be approx 13m tall). There is likely to be plenty of cover provided from nearby trees and vegetation so the attraction won’t be visible away from the park.
The imagery has been submitted by Smytheman Architectural showing a large concentre structure with themed elements found either side plus an interesting walkway. There is also a proposal for a building to home plants plus storage. Within the application, Alton Towers have indicated that they are looking to increase the amount of people staying within Forbidden Valley by increasing the range of attractions available. Previously the site was occupied by Ripsaw that closed back in 2015, the proposed site will replace to the current ride attraction Funk n Fly & will sit alongside Nemesis Reborn, Galactica and the Rollercoaster Restaurant.
At this stage, there is no indication of when the new attraction is likely to be ready but we’ll bring you more details as they come in.
