Alton Towers New Coaster Attraction; Project Horizon

We’re always searching for Cheap Alton Towers Tickets & 2 for 1 Vouchers but we’re always interested in the latest coaster developments to hit the park. The good news is that planning permission has already been agreed by Staffordshire Moorlands District Council for a new coaster attraction that will be based in the south west corner of the resort.

Currently known as ‘Project Horizon’, this new indoor attraction is to be situated upon the site of the former Alton Mouse rollercoaster that closed back in 1991.  Currently being used a maintenance and storage yard, the entrance to this new attraction will be found between The Alton Towers Dungeon & The World of David Walliams and so opening up quick access to both Rita & Thirteen for those with a thirst for coasters. The main bulk of the building, which will be dark green to match the surrounding landscape, will fit well into the current theming for this area of the park.  The queue to reach the coaster will be through existing woodland.

Billed as an indoor attraction, this attraction would reach a height of 19m, (64ft) tall and be housed within a 71m x 46m building with a further extension for a gift shop/housing queuing guests. We understand that there won’t be any significant excavation work being undertaken suggesting any track drop planned wouldn’t be more that around 15 metres, (50 ft).  The expected cost is to hit the £12.5million mark with a proposed opening in 2025.
