National Trust; Free Child Entry with Family Membership
It’s good to see a deal from the National Trust that is fully inclusive for all families that offers you substantial savings. This free entry perk includes all children for whom you have parental responsibility or who are living with you, including children you are fostering or who are placed with you for adoption. This also allows for children that you have parental responsibility for but do not live with you. We were particular interested to see that grandchildren can also be included on family memberships too. To be eligible for this offer, children must be under 18 years.
Once you join, the National Trust will issue you with 1 or 2 membership cards, (depending on whether you are applying for 1/2 adult family membership). If a child named on a family group is visiting without the adults on that membership, they can still enter for free by presenting one of the adult’s card at properties. Children under 16 can be admitted without an accompanying adult and with a valid family membership card at the discretion of the General Manager. This is a great free perk that comes with National Trust family membership that takes accounts of families of all shapes & sizes.
Grandparents too might be interested in this family membership option as it allows you to take up to 10 grandchildren, (17 years and under) FREE of charge. Unfortunately, you cannot combine the senior concessionary rate with family membership, but it could prove value for money if you’re planning a trip or 2 with the family.

I find it strange that the seniors membership for the national trust does not allow the member to take in their grandchildren, where as the historic Scotland does, after all how many grandparents actually watch their grandchildren in childcare duties. I see it as a loss to national trust for not encouraging youngsters to being introduced to national trust properties by days out with grandparents.
The National Trust offers a family membership option that allows Grandparents to enjoy settings with their Grandchildren but unfortunately the seniors discounted membership does not include children. Disappointed that grandparents who take up the senior membership can’t add grandchildren for free. It’s usually the grandparents that take the children in the school holidays.
