Another great option for those looking to get their hands on some free tickets to the movies is to sign up to a preview site. We’ve enjoyed some great free ticket offers over the years not only for the movies but free tickets to the theatre too. Most main cinema chains offer mid-morning family movies that run during weekends & school holidays. With tickets priced from just £1.99pp this offers substantial savings and, whilst these won’t be the latest releases, they are often popular movies that work for all the family.

3. Avoid the ‘Blockbuster Tax’
Dubbed as the ‘blockbuster tax’, some cinema chains are now effectively adding a ticket uplift onto popular movies. Evidence to date appears to show that this enhanced ticket price tends to run during the first few weeks after the release of potentially blockbuster movies, (such as Spectre, Star Wars; The Force Awakens), before returning to standard entry prices. Our advice would be to wait it out as you’ll likely to see ticket prices drop back to standard prices.

Odeon Cinema have recently introduced a monthly subscription card that offers unlimited movies during a 12 month period. For serious movie buffs this can offer value for money but worth considering any hidden costs before you lock yourself into a 12 month contract.

Compare the Market customers can take advantage of a 2 for 1 on cinema tickets that are valid for use Tuesdays & Wednesdays during a 12 month period year. Take advantage of loyalty card reward schemes that offer savings on cinema tickets. Tesco shoppers can redeem clubcard vouchers at Odeon, Cineworld or Movie House cinemas or spend Nectar points at Vue Cinemas.
