New Arrivals at Trentham Monkey Forest

Trentham Monkey Forest is celebrating the recent births of the first baby Barbary macaques of the season, with more eagerly awaited over the coming months.  As an endangered species, new arrivals are vital to the survival of the species.

The first ever twins at the Monkey Forest were also born recently but the outlook was not favourable as twins are rare & the possibility of survival very low.  Unfortunately, one of the twin babies was lost after a couple of days but against all the odds the remaining twin, a little girl, is thriving under the great care given by her experienced mum.

There are now 3 new baby monkeys at the park with more eagerly awaited over the coming months.  Visitors to the Monkey Forest in Staffordshire should be able to glimpse the mothers & their babies who hold on to their mothers’ tummies where they keep warm & feed.  They start to take their first tentative steps at around 2 weeks old.
