London Zoo & Canal Boat Trips, (no longer running)
Previously those planning a visit to London Zoo, could arrive/depart in style by enjoying a trip along the canal to either Camden Lock or Little Venice. Whilst this service no longer is available to or from London Zoo due to the waterside gate being closed.
This was a novel way to combine a visit to London Zoo with a boat trip along the canal to either Camden Lock or Little Venice. Previously, you could opt to take the waterbus directly to London Zoo or enjoy a trip along the canal following on from your visit, whatever floats your boat!
Previously we suggested you visit London Zoo first and then take the waterbus in either direction. If you opt to arrive by narrowboat, you will need to purchase full price London Zoo tickets that cannot take account of online ticket discounts, vouchers or special offers. If however you gain entry under your own steam, making use of cheap ticket options for London Zoo, you simply pay a small standard charge for the canal trip, (more details below).

So disappointed as intended to repeat a very successful day combining the canal with London Zoo for my younger grandchildren. Is there any chance they will re-open the waterside gate this summer?
Hi Margaret, yes we too were sorry to hear that the waterside gate was closed at London Zoo as it did make for such a special additional extra to a day out at the zoo. The waterside gate was closed back in 2019 and unfortunately I am not aware of any plans to re-open it, sorry.
Thank you for updating this! I was all set to repeat a memory of taking the ferry boat to the “back” entrance of the London Zoo – I’m so sorry it’s no longer an option! But I’m glad I found out about it before trying to go. Thank you.

Hi Sai, unfortunately the waterbus no longer stops for either drop off or collection to or from ZSL London Zoo. The Waterbus Service still runs from Camden Market to Little Venice and you will go past London Zoo on your route but unfortunately there is now no opportunity to stop off here.
