Blackpool Pleasure Beach; Worth Another Look!

Blackpool Pleasure Beach Review

Blackpool Pleasure Beach has definitely moved on from that seedy down-on-it’s-luck image that can first come to mind when considering a trip to this northern visitor attraction.  Over the past few years, the Pleasure Beach has spent considerable time & money on improvements & the transformation is quite astounding. It’s well worth another look at Blackpool Pleasure Beach.

Blackpool Pleasure Beach Pass; Controversial but Effective!

One of the main changes to the park was the introduction of an admission fee, the Blackpool Pleasure Beach Pass, that was introduced back in 2009.  Whilst this initially sparked controversy, it quickly had the desired effect of improving customer experience as incidents of anti social behaviour declined dramatically.

It is also worth considering that many other theme parks, such as Alton Towers & Thorpe Park, will charge you full price for entry whether you intend to use the rides or not.  Whereas the Blackpool Pleasure Beach pass can be a money saving option for those accompanying children but prefer not to ride.

Blackpool Pleasure Beach; The Basics

If you are anything like me, you’ll also quickly note improved presentation around the Pleasure Beach; litter is quickly disposed of, toilets were clean throughout the day & staff were general friendly around the park. There is a buzz around the park now of families, young people & adults alike all enjoying a good day out. Whilst I still have a gripe about the restrictions on food that can be brought into the Pleasure Beach the rules are not quite as onerous as I initially thought.  There are ways & means to still enjoy a picnic on a budget day to Blackpool if you know how!

Nickelodeon Land at Blackpool Pleasure Beach

Nickelodeon Land opened at Blackpool Pleasure Beach in 2011 & offers a dedicated area for younger customers themed around  popular TV characters.  Well received by children of all ages, Nickelodeon has rides suitable for pre-school children up to those seeking their first thrill rides such as the family coaster Nickelodeon Streak. Nickelodeon Land has also helped in the transformation of the park, drawing in younger families to the Pleasure Beach.  It is worth noting that a number of Nickelodeon rides do require children under 120cm to be accompanied by an adult.

Pleasure Beach Oldies

The great advantage with Blackpool Pleasure Beach is that, whilst maintaining investment in new thrills & experiences, it retains the old character rides too.  Whilst Thorpe Park can invest 18 million on the latest coasters it cannot give you the experience of a Pleasure Beach steeped in history.

My children were as enthusiastic in the older thrill rides such as the Big Dipper or the Grand National with their comfy seats & wooden coasters for a difference experience.  Sometimes it is reassuring to see that it’s not always about reaching ultimate thrills; the oldies are just as good too!

Top Tip; bypass the queues with a Blackpool Pleasure Beach Speedy Pass for those looking to pack more into their day!
