Insider’s Guide to Alton Towers

1. Alton Towers Tik’s; Early Ride Time

Did you know you can pick up Alton Towers EARLY ACCESS that grants you early entry to the park an hour before it opens to the public?  Each day a selection of rides & attractions are available, (inc Nemesis, Oblivion, Enterprise & rides within CBeebies Land), before the park opens to the public to help you get ahead of the queues.  Early Ride Time is open to those that purchase tickets online, passholders and select Alton Resort Guests.

To book tickets that includes Early Ride Time go to Alton Towers 2018 Tickets – save more than £20pp.

2. Single Rider Queues at Alton Towers

A Single Rider Queue is a FREE METHOD to shorten your queue time by allowing individual riders to use up available space on ride carriages. Whilst this option is only available on select rides, it can be an effective way to reduce your wait times if you don’t mind experiencing a few of the rides away from your friends & family.  More information available at Single Rider Queues at Alton Towers.

Save £20+pp when you book online at Alton Towers that includes early access to select rides & attractions!

Find out more information over at Cheap Tickets for Alton Towers.

4. Alton Towers; Parent Queue Share Pass

Take advantage of this FREE method to reduce you queue times at Alton Towers with a Parent Queue Share Pass.  This option allow parents/carers with young children the chance to ride the thrill rides without having to queue twice by making use of priority entrance.  Good to know it can be used in conjunction with a fastrack ticket too!

More information is available at Alton Towers – Parent Queue Share Pass.

5. Early Bird

Did you know that the car park, monorail & ticket booths open significantly earlier than the park itself?  As with any theme park, the first 60/90 minutes of the day gives you the quietest time at the park.  Get ahead of the queues by being ready to go the moment the park opens for the day allowing for queues within the car park, monorail & tickets booths.

TOP TIP: take advantage of an Alton Towers Resort Family Break with overnight accommodation, theme park tickets + family entry 2 other attraction from £235 a family of 4!

6. Alton Towers; Fastrack Tickets

A fastrack ticket is a paid method to bypass the queues at Alton Towers & can be particularly beneficial on busy days at the park.  Fastrack tickets can be purchased either online or on the day, subject to availability.  Look out for a range of packages available including Fastrack Solos that can give you a head start on a popular ride & Fastrack Platinums that offers unlimited fastracks throughout your day.

More information available at A Fastrack Tickets for Alton Towers.

7. Alton Towers; Non-Queue Attractions

As the park gets busy, intersperse rides with large non-queue attractions that allows children to run off steam & adults can take a well earned break.  Look out for the Sharkbait Reef SEA LIFE Centre, get active at the Training Camp Adventure Playground or take in a show within CBeebies Land.  Remember there are also other children’s rides away from CBeebies Land within Cloud Cuckoo Land that can be less busy.

8. Alton Towers; Work Anti-clockwise

Thrill seekers often start the rides from the front of the park starting with Spinball Whizzer and then working clockwise around the park.  Buck the trend & head straight to the Forbidden Valley/Dark Forest working towards the front of the park.  The Skyride may not be operational first thing but, for those that know where they are going, a swift walk through the gardens to Forbidden Valley can get you ahead of the game.

9. Queue Times

Keep an eye out for current queue times and any rides not operating that day through the Alton Towers App or electronic information boards found around the park.  By taking account of accurate queue times for particular rides, you can circumnavigate the park avoiding the the worst of the queues.

10. It’s The Queue NOT The Ride That Shuts!

Not many people realise that it’s the queue that shuts at the advertised closing time NOT the actual ride.  If you stay to the end this gives you another chance at the main rides with generally shorter queue times.

11. Alton Towers Tips; NEW Exit Point

Look out for the new exit point to be found within Forbidden Valley that lead you directly into the standard car park!  This offers for a swifter exit bypassing the need for the monorail back to the car park.  This exit point tends to open up about 30 minutes after the rides close for the day as it is primarily there for Rollercoaster Restaurant guests but is available to theme park visitors too.

TOP TIP; look out for a Thrill Hopper Ticket that includes 1 entry to all 4 attractions; Alton Towers, Drayton Manor, SnowDome & Water World for £60pp

Hi I have purchased a £15 come back anytime ticket – when I visit will I still be able to take advantage of the 9.60 come back next day offer thanks

    • Hi Eliot, an interesting point and I have to admit I’m not sure with this one. We’ve been told previously that it doesn’t matter how you gain entry to the park whether it be 2 for 1 vouchers, half price vouchers etc but I’m not sure if that includes comeback tickets as well. The stipulation is that you purchases comeback tickets from within the park and present valid tickets to the staff so worth a shot. Be great if you could feedback if this does work for you so we can pass it on to our readers. Good luck:)

        • Hi Stef, unfortunately the Kellogg’s Adults Go Free vouchers are only valid at the Alton Towers Theme Park and cannot be used at the Alton Towers Waterpark:(
