Twinlakes Theme Park; Tried & Tested

Twinlakes has the feel of a good old fashioned theme park that comes with so many added extras it leaves you feeling slightly discombobulated. Where else can you lark around in the splash play park, take in a bird of prey display, visit the animals on the farm, (including feeding the lambs), enjoy a pedalo, take time out on one of the many adventure playgrounds & still have time for some theme park rides!

Whilst you are not going to find the high end thrill rides here, I was surprised by exactly how much of the park was suitable for older children up to around the age of around 14 years. My two 13 year old testers spent the day speeding around the park & were still hard pressed to fit it all into one day, (queuing no more than 10 minutes at any time during the day). In fact it is this vast range of attractions that particularly works well for families striving to keep children & adults of differing interests amused on a day out.

During our visit we were also struck by the wealth of indoor provision available from enormous play structures to an array of rides and attractions set within huge warehouse structures. Although I wouldn’t set off to Twinlakes on the wettest of weekends, it was reassuring to know your day out is not dependent upon the weather.

Twinlakes Theme Park; Top Tips

i. Remember The Trunks; take advantage of the outdoor waterpark that is found within the setting at no extra charge. Just remember the swimwear, towels & sun lotion for hours of fun.

ii. Extend Your Stay; take advantage of the combined accommodation & attraction packages that offers you a night in a hotel, breakfast, use of the hotel’s leisure facilities plus family entry to 3 attractions of your choice including Twinlakes.

iii. Plan Your Day; look out for events running during your visit particularly the animal encounters running within the farm & the birds of prey display that take place within the aviary.  These events tend to run throughout the day so try to plan these into your itinerary to get the most from your day.

iv. Picnics; are welcome at Twinlakes with plenty of space both inside, (there is even an indoor designated area ), plus a wide range of outdoor options available too.  Food is available to purchase on-site although much of it tends to be limited to fast food outlets.

v. Lockers; whilst there are no lockers on-site you’re never too far away from the car park should you wish to store your cool-box.  Simply remember to have your hand stamped before you leave the park to gain re-admission.

Twinlakes; More Top Tips

vi. Busy Days; whilst we’ve seen reports that it can get very busy on the rides on popular days, simply intersperse non-queue attractions, (of which there are many), with time waiting in line for favoured rides.  As with any theme park queues will be down on the first 60/90 minutes of the day so ensure you are ready to go as the park opens.

vii. Indoor Play; there is plenty of action going on indoors should the weather turn during your visit that includes mammoth climbing structures, indoor rides, a bouncy castle and even a roller skating rink.

viii. Parking; great to see that parking remains FREE of charge at Twinlakes.

ix. Events; keep an eye out for events running throughout the season that range from Meeting Peppa Pig to Xtreme Scream Park, (during the scare season), and seemingly everything in between!
