1. Budget London; Santander Cycles

The Santander Cycle hire scheme is open to tourists, visitors and residents alike and offers you a great way to explore London on a budget.  We particularly enjoy making use of these bike to explore the cycle paths located within the Royal Parks.

There are two charges running on these bikes;  a set daily access fee & a usage fee that is dependent upon how long you have the bike in your possession.  Simply sign up, pay your access fee & then it’s down to you how much the bike ride is going to cost with every 30 minutes charged at just £2.

This scheme is particularly useful for short journeys as you will be charged £2 for each extra 30 minutes so it’s best to return your bike to a docking station as soon as you have completed your journey as you can always pick up another one later.

2. Budget London; Thames Clipper

Do as the locals do and use the Thames Clipper commuter ferry to enjoy a budget trip down the River Thames.  Whilst there is no commentary on the Thames Clipper, for those that have some idea of what they are looking out for along the Thames, this option offers value for money.  For double deals, you can also use travelcards & oyster cards to secure further discounts off standard price tickets too.  The Clipper runs from London Eye to Greenwich and takes in all the sights along the river including Tower Bridge, London Eye, Houses of Parliament & The Shard.

3. Budget London; Emirates Air Line Cable Cars

The Emirates Air Line, also known at the Thames Cable Cars transports you over the River Thames providing you with a bird’s eye view of the city.  The cable cars run between Greenwich & the London Docks & reaches a height of  90 metres.  Take in views of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, the Cutty Sark, Canary Wharf & the O2 Arena whilst enjoying a ride in a cable car.  This 1.1km journey across the Thames takes approximately 10 minutes each way & is reasonably priced.
