it’s good to see this 2 FREE ticket newspaper promotion for Alton Towers is back for 2024. Starting in The Sun on 16 March 2024, here’s an opportunity to enjoy complimentary entry to Alton Towers this season although this offer now works best for those that can visit during off-peak times. No longer offering free tickets during weekends and school holidays, this promotion now limits free tickets to quieter times at the park such as school term times. This free ticket offer with The Sun now works best for those who have flexibility to visit Alton Towers during school term times. You can pick up 2 FREE tickets in this newspaper promotion but worth understanding how this offer has changed this year as there are now more restrictions on ticket availability.
Running from 16 March – 2 April 2024, this offers you a chance to enjoy free entry to Alton Towers during quieter times of the year. You will need to register for the Sun Savers reward club and then pick up The Sun each day to collect 9 out of 18 unique number Sun Saver codes. Simply follow the application process for a chance to pick up complimentary tickets where the booking lines opens on 25 March 2024 at 11am. You will then receive an email containing a unique code and steps on how to book ticket but you must claim your unique code by 15 April and book your tickets by midnight on 6 April 2024.
You can then select an available date offering free entry and this year there’s no booking fee to pay. With availability of free tickets limited this year to off-peak dates, this deal works best for those with flexibility on when they visit and remember that tickets allocated are non-transferable. Once your booking is complete, you will receive e-tickets which can be printed or displayed on your mobile device.
There are 25,350 free Alton Towers tickets up for grabs, with a limit of 2 tickets per household, that works on a first-come-first-served basis. There are a further 80,000 Alton Towers tickets available for weekend and school holiday but these are now on a cost basis with price bands ranging from £10 to £25pp. Plenty have asked but unfortunately you cannot change the date of your visit with any tickets allocated so this deal works best for those that can plan ahead.

Hi Leah, I understand that the free tickets to Alton Towers with The Sun promotion are being allocated in phases. Within the terms and condition it states that ‘if your completed application is successful, your tickets will be allocated for one specific date from a date band on a first come, first served basis.’ There are only a limited number of tickets available within this free ticket promotion, (9,400 tickets available during school and bank holidays & 13,250 weekend tickets) and are subject to availability on a first come, first served basis so unfortunately it is not automatic that you will be allocated any tickets, fingers crossed for you, Liz

Can I bring a carer as a third person with my sun tickets do you know? Obviously with proof for their carer policy.
The terms & conditions of this free ticket offer clearly state that ‘this offer may not be used in conjunction with any other offer or discount. Any further additional visitors accompanying offer ticket holders must pay the full admission price at any admission kiosk at the attraction.’ However, you make an interesting point regarding a free carer place. I think you would be best contacting Alton Towers directly, (we at topdogdays simply let you know where the deals can be found), with your query but we’d be interested to know if it is actual possible. I never received any Alton Towers tickets and The Sun said they have never even received my application. I did it all quickly and sent it if correctly so was very disappointed but believed it was true.
Now The Sun are saying they have never received my application for Thorpe Park Tickets neither. This seems very coincidental to me!!!
I won’t be sending off for anything else. It’s more like a competition than a promotion and it’s not worth it!!!

I have had the same problem. i sent off my tokens and got proof of posting in time. I messaged to ask where they were and apparently they have not got any applications from me so I have no tickets!
My friend also did the same, in fact we sent them off atvthe same time, and she has had the same response. We both have proof of posting, it seems like a scam to get people to buy their rag, then pretend they never had your applications. I wont be doing this again at all, it’s a miney making scheme and if they do this to one in 5 people, they aremaking a fortune from the extra revenue from people who noramlly wouldnt buy thier rubbish!

Hi Angela, unfortunately it is not possible to ensure 2 set of tickets for Alton Towers for the same day. You can put them both down for the same date band but they are unlikely to fall on the same date. Also ensure you use a different address for each application as the terms & conditions are quite strict that ‘multiple applications from the same household will ALL be cancelled’

Well i started collecting token as soon the sun started i collected all put my dates on and also the dates on a different envelope and i still not received my tickets totally gutted ive emailed and they said first they stop sending by 3rd june so came 3rd june i emailed again they said they stop sending 13th june well looks like im never collecting the sun holidays either now as im so annoyed

We are due to go tomorrow and despite having booked through Sun+ and getting confirmation have not arrived. The post office say they can do nothing and the Sun’s helpline was basically “tough, there’s nothing we can do”. Certainly wouldn’t bother getting a Sun+ subscription to guarantee free tickets to anyone.

I received my free tickets for alton towers, for that i thank you. I asked for the 19th of May as that is the only time i can go. I have to travel from the isle of wight,and have a long journey and you sent me tickets for the 18th stating that i have to use them on that date.I feel really disappointed as i sent my vouchers early to hopefully guarantee me that date. I collected first 10 codes and entered them on day 10. BUT it won’t allow me to get the free tickets! I’ve contacted the sun and they can see that I have banked the codes but say there’s a fault their end as to why I can’t get them! I did want a certain day so IF and that’s a big IF They sort it my date won’t be available.. Waste of time!

Yes, it does says write your 5 date bands in order of preference at the bottom right hand corner of the front of the envelope and I would add them as you suggested – just remember to add all 5 date bands as otherwise it will not be processed.

Hi Maria, my understanding would be that whilst you could purchase a Merlin Pass on the day of your visit, you wouldn’t receive any discount off the standard price as you would be gaining free entry to the park with The Sun offer.

Hi Tracy, as you’ve found the free ticket offer for Alton Towers currently running in The Sun is going to be the cheapest way. If you undertake the paper based tokens you cannot choose your exact day, (you select from possible bands of dates), if you undertake the paper perks system, you can choose the day you wish to visit, (subject to availability). More Alton Towers deals over at Cheap Tickets for Alton Towers.
So I’m collecting the tokens and also in putting the paper perks codes, I understand the token process, but unsure if the paper perks works the same way to get ticket’s for AT.
Hi Gary, the paper perks system is quite different where initially you need to sign up for the perks system online and then start adding your codes to the site. Once you have reached the correct number of codes, you will be able to book your Alton Towers tickets online selecting from available dates.

Hi David, there are differing ways to apply for these free tickets this year. For Sun+ members or those that sign up for ‘sun perks’, you can select the day of your free visit to Alton Towers with dates running from March to November, (on a first come first served basis & subject to availability). If you are collecting tokens in the paper then you will apply for 5 different date bands which you will receive tickets that fall within one of your selected date bands, (again subject to availability).

Hi Helen, as far as I am aware it only states 2 free tickets and doesn’t state whether these are adult or child tickets although the terms state that the applicant must be over 18 but I can’t see anything relating to the second ticket. An adult at Alton Towers is deemed 12 years & over.

Hi Sarah, difficult to advise as I haven’t seen sight of these tickets. I do know that the free Sun offer was for 2 free tickets to Alton Towers and if it says that it is valid for 2 people on the back of the ticket, then it all sounds OK. If you are having no luck with The Sun, you could always contact Alton Towers directly, (we are independent of all visitor attractions), to double check.

I sent off my application with 9 different numbered tokens and a stamped addressed envelope within plenty of time from the closing date as I purchased the paper everyday from when the offer started yet I have never heard anything back or received my tickets. This is now the second year this has happened and I am really upset this has happened again. I understand this could happen occasionally but for it to happen 2 years running is unacceptable . As I feel mislead thinking I would get free tickets to enjoy a day at Alton towers yet to this day am still waiting. Is there anything you can do or can you track my tickets as I am sure they should have been here by now.

I am just abouts to send off for my free alton towers vouchers.. But it says to send a 8cm x 15cm SAE , I only have a standard small envelope. Does anyone know if this will still get accepted to send?
I wouldn’t chance it Rachel, they very much stick to the requirements with this free ticket offer. To ensure this is a valid application, I would only enclose an envelope in the stipulated size & follow all instructions to the letter:(

Hi Natalir, in previous years you could download an application form online but this year The Sun has changed this and stated you needed to pick up the application form from The Sun on 19 March:(

Katie, applications must be received by 6 April so, whilst I can’t vouch for it, send it first class and hope for the best:)
Hi Tracey, Alton Towers is closed today following the incident on The Smiler yesterday. Alton Towers have said that ‘All guests with pre-booked tickets, or those who arrive at the theme park, will have the choice of either having their tickets revalidated for an alternative date or a full refund.’ Topdogdays is independent of both Alton Towers & The Sun but I would suspect you will be able to re-arrange your tickets for another day – best to contact Alton Towers to clarify the situation.
Hi, whilst we are independent of Alton Towers I understand that those with Sun tickets dated 3 – 8 June, can re-validate their tickets for an alternative date up until the 16/10/15. Simply present you original tickets to the staff on the ticket booths on the day of your visit.
